Gonzaga writer wins literary award

Ciarán O' Rourke (6D) is the recipient of this year's 'Lena Maguire/Cúirt New Irish Writer Award'. Writers published in the magazine 'West 47' are eligible for the award. The award is presented annually at the Cúirt International Festival of Literature in Galway to a writer of short fiction or poetry who has yet to publish a first collection. Ciarán's poem 'Swim' was chosen out of several hundred entries this year.
Ciaran has also won joint-first prize in his age category (18 and under) in this year's Listowel Writer's Festival.
